What this directorate does
Data, Privacy and Records is responsible for the Commonwealth's obligations to the people it holds information about. The directorate operates the public records request service, decides how long records are kept, and reviews the data protection impact of every new service on Office platforms.
It also publishes the open data catalogue. Information that does not identify anyone should be available to everyone — researchers, journalists, local authorities, and the departments that generated it in the first place.
