Service
Request your public records
Ask for a copy of the information a Commonwealth department holds about you, and track the request until it is answered.
Availability
Available. Requests made after 4pm are logged the following working day.
Who can use this service
- Anyone requesting their own records
- A parent or guardian requesting records for a child under 16
- Someone holding a registered power of attorney, with evidence uploaded
Before you start
You will need a verified Commonwealth ID account.
Knowing roughly when the records were created, and which department holds them, makes the request faster to answer.
Departments have 20 working days to reply. Complex requests can be extended once, and you will be told if that happens.
How to use this service
Sign in
Sign in with Commonwealth ID. We use your verified identity so you do not have to prove who you are again.
Choose what you are asking for
Select the departments you believe hold your records, or ask us to search all of them. Narrower requests are usually answered faster.
Add any detail that helps
Dates, reference numbers, and previous correspondence all help a department find the right records first time.
Track the reply
You will get a reference number immediately. We tell you when each department receives the request and when it responds.
